Welcome to Noelia's English Corner!
How are you doing? How is the academic year going? I couldn't call you last weekend because I have been very busy with my studies. Oh, you don't know how hard it is!
When I've had some free time, I've gone shopping with my best friends, Rachel and Carol. We usually go to the shopping centre, we have a look at some of the shops and then, we have a tea in a snack bar. I love the coffee there!
You know what? Rachel told me about a very interesting Spanish academy and we've decided to put our names in. It has a comfortable timetable; we have to go from six to seven every Thursday and it doesn't interrupt my judo lessons. Thus, I have time to continue with my routine and learn some Spanish too! It's great! :-)
I have to leave you, I'm in my first Spanish lesson and Rachel is waiting for me.

How're you doing? Did you have a nice summer? I'm really sorry I haven't written to you for ages ._. I've been really busy. I went to Galicia and I visited my family. We normally go to the beach to swim and take the sun. This summer is not being very cold here. We went to country too and we visited the celtic houses, saw some hourses, got in the Monte Santa Tecla...
Also, and you're not going to believe this D:I've started a new campaing so as to save animals! Javi, my cousin, and I are controling the countries with other boys and girls because the animals dead ran over in the roads. So me look after those cars to make them drive more slowly.
I have to go now to have a diner :( Write back soon to tell me that what you're been up to, ok? ;D
Sergio Ramos' Biography By Miguel Herrera Rodríguez 1º BACH C
In 1986, Sergio Ramos was born in Camas, Seville. He is twenty-five years old. He is one metre and eighty-three tall. He loves playing football.
When he was a boy, he played in Sevilla F.C. At the age of 18, he made his debute with the first team. He played in this team for two years. Then, in the summer of 2005, he joined Real Madrid. He has been successful in Real Madrid since then and he is the second captain.
Eventually he also plays in the Spanish national team. In 2010 he won the World Football Cup and in 2008 he also won the European Footbal Cup. I think he is a really good player!
How are you? I'm sorry I haven't written to you but I've been really busy with the exams.
Now I'm in a new secondary school near my house in my first year of Bachillerato. Now, I'm not so young! ;-) There my best friend is Alicia. In the afternoons, I usually go to maths lessons and it is so boring! At the weekends I like hanging out with my friends. We usually have dinner in the city centre or go to someone's house in order to see films or play games.
I love going to the disco but I only can go from 9 to 12 pm. I hate this time because there are only little teenagers and I want to meet people older than me :-( I also love going shopping with mum and buy lots of heels!
To relax I usually see films or read romantic books. In the summer I always go to the beach and parties.
I have to go now to clean my bedroom :-( I'm a disaster! Write back soon to tell me everything, ok?

2nd) Choose one the following topics. You must confirm the topic by answering this post. EACH GROUP MUST SELECT A DIFFERENT TOPIC. So if you are interested in a particular topic, write to me ASAP.
Here are the list of topics and proposals about how you should work with them:
a. National sport in that country (mentioning most famous teams or players) OR weird sports in that country. Slide presentation. b. Celebrations such as Thanksgiving Day, April Fool's Day. Slide presentation. c. Significant women in the history of the country: writers, scientists, etc. Booklet or slide presentation. d. Music: most popular singers and bands among teens. Remember to include sample songs. Slide presentation. e. Travel Guide: pamphlet including the most famous tourist destinations in that country. f. Literature: the most famous works and writers(fiction, drama, poetry). Slide presenation or booklet. g. Food: typical dishes and diet. h. 3rd) Another topic not related to English-speaking countries:
a. Environmental issues: design a pamphlet to make the school community aware of those problems.
Nowdays most people talk about the economic crisis, there are many disadvantages. There are not any advantages. I agree with this.
First, there are many people that do not have a job because businesses not have any money. There are five millions of without work in Spain. Moreover, there are many football teams that have disappeared because they haven´t got any money. Also the politicians of our country are corrupted and they never say the truth of the economic situation in Spain. However people complain about the situation very much but nothing help us.
In my opinion, the politicians should tell us the truth. With the help of all people, the economic world would be better and the banks should lend some money at the people.

How are you? Did you have a good summer holidays? It's nice to write you. When will you come back to Algeciras? I'm very happy with the life that I have. This Friday I met with my friends. We watched a film at the cinema then we went to the shopping centre. After we frank a tea and ate a good sandwich and at night we went to the disco.
I love playing football with my friends in the afternoon and at night we go to the centre to see the football match in a pub. However I love playing football games with my cousin at the weekend.
On Sundays I am going to go the country with my family. We are going to swim in the river. Then, we are going to eat in a barbacue.

Hi Noelia, I'm Carlos Reina and this is my writing exercise:
My favourite film is Pulp Fiction. Quentin Tarantino, who directed the film, has directed other famous films as Kill Bill or Inglorious Basterds. I like John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson performs together.
This film is set in Las Vegas in the 90's. The film is three stories where there are a lot of drugs, violence and dark humour. In the first story John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson are two hitmen in the film and they have a lot of problems that they have to solve if they don't want to die. In the second story Bruce Willis Lie to the godfather of Las Vegas and he have to run away of the city. In the third story Tim Roth y Amanda Plummer rob a caffe.
There are two reason why I like this film, the incredible soundtrack, with "Miserlou" by Dick Dale, and the actors that are all very famous.
Well, I have notice it trough of the highschool, the news on tv and my parents. In the school, my economic teacher is always talking about the crsis. He's always warning us that we must study to have a good job and a good future. He also says that we shouldn't de fooled by politicians. Others teachers say that our future is very frightening.
I usually watch the news on tv with my parents at lunch and the alqeays say that if I don't study, I won't get a job. And I know it but it's so boring to study every day. I don't have another option because I don't want live with my parents all my life and I want to be independent.
In conclusion, we must be prepared for the crissi and for a possible third world war.
A person who I think makes a difference is Madonna. She was born in Michigan in 1858. She has three brothers and two sisters. After she studied at Michigan's University, she became a singer.
She started to became famous with a rock ban called 'Breakfast Band' and also with another band called 'Emmy'. Then Madonna signed an agreement with Sire Records and made her first album called 'Madonna'. Her nine best themes has been for example: Like a virgin or Vogue.
Nowadays, she's famous around the world and she has sung with a lot of famous singers. She's considered the pop's queen.
Some people want to be like skinny models because the look perfect and happy, but I disagree. In my view, they are unnatural because they are sick. They don't eat!!
Sometimes they look beautiful but most of them are suffering due to they can't eat everything they want and they are anorexic. As I see it, they are showing an irreal image and people don't realize that it's a damage for society, especially for teenagers.
To sum up, if teenagers don't realize, society will be in serious problems but I don't think that it will happen as people are to gullible. All in all, I think they are really unhappy.
One of my favourite films is 'In Time'. Andrew Niccol is its director. The main actors are Olivia Wilde and Justin Timberlake. I love the last one, he's so good-looking and his songs are incredible!! This science fiction film, was recorded in USA. It's about a world where, thanks to scientific research, no one is old. To control the society, people can stay alive as long as they can pay with currency, which is the time. The protagonist is a middle class man who accidentally give his much time and travels to the rich city, where there he meets a rich woman. Both fall in love and go on a journey to steal all the time there is in the banks and give them to middle class people.
There are several reasons why I love this film. Firstly, it arouses curiosity about the future societies and secondly because they also show humor. I really recommend this film to anyone.
The best film I have never seen is Amelie. It's a French film directed by Jean Pierre Helmet. The actress who plays the lead in is Audrey Toutou. It's incredible how she acts and she's the perfect one for that character. The film has become famous due to his originality. This film isn't a typical film with a typical plot. The story is about a girl who pays attention to insignificant things, a very special person, who lives her life like a fantasy and is very naive. The plot becomes interesting when she starts to observe a boy who she fancies, but he don't know anything because she is very shy. By means of little games, she will be able to approach him. I love this film because the characters are very special and original. Moreover, its scene with bright colours is precious, really nice. So, I would recommend this film to anyone.
One of my favourite programe is "El Hormiguero" in Antena 3 Most of my friends like this programme because is very funny and they watch this programme every night
This programe started in 2008 in Cuatro. It´s presented is Pablo Motos. At first "El hormiguero" it did have any audence However, channel Cuatro has a lot of many and very famous people visit this programme, for example: Justin bieber,Shakira,LMFO... so El hormiguero is very famous among young people. Later Antena 3 bought "El hormiguero" so the audence increasing and they can buy good stages. Finally I recommend or everybody should this programme
An all-time classic. One of my favourite films is gladiator.Ridley Scot,who directed the film,is a genius.The main actors,Russell Crowe and Joaquín Phoenix,Cómodo in the film,are great,but I think that the film has become a classic due to the rol of Russel Crowe,''Máximo Décimo Meridio'' in the film.
The film is set in the Roman empire.Máximo's family was killed by the Cómodo Army.Máximo was the general of the Roman legion's and friend of Marcus Aurelius,father of Cómodo.Máximo is betrayed by Cómodo,who killed his father.Máximo is enslave and he became a Gladiator.Máximo challenged Cómodo in the coliseum and later in fight in the Coliseum with Cómodo and he killed him,but Máximo die due to the battle.Máximo met her family in the sky.
I love this film for two reasons.Firstly all the actors are absolutelly fabulous.Secondly,the plot is very nice and emphasizes courage an honor.
One of my favourite films is EdwardScissorhands. This film was made by Tim Burtonn, who directed films like The Corpse Bride or Nightmare Before Chritmas. The main actors are Wynona Ryder and Johnny Deep. I think that this film is a classic because is very beautiful, the actors are fantastic and many people known.
The story begins with a conversation with an old Kum Baggs and her granddaughter. The grandmother was telling how to meet her Edward, a boy who had scissors hands, and his story begins more or less in the 70's, when her mother was selling cosmetics and make-up, she found Edward's house and she decided to introduce meet him to her family and to the village, where all people discriminated him.
When the people discovered the Edward's art talent, all the neighbours take advantage of him. So one day, the people begun to reject him and called him "monster", when the monsters were they. Finally, Edward wasn't happy there and decided to return to his house, where he killed accidently a boy and Kim told the neighbours that Edward died, too, which was a lie to let him in peace.
There are three reasons why I love this film. Firstly, all the actors are absolutely fabolous. Secondly, the film is very original, creative and special, and thirdly, the plot is gorgeous and funny. Therefore, I would recommend this film to anyone.

The best tennis player in the world is Rafael Nadal, who was born in Majorca, Spain in 1986. He began playing tennis at the age of 15. He is right-handed but he plays tennis with his left-hand. He usually wear to play a headband, t-shirts and knee-length shorts.
He is 1,85 metres tall and he has got brown eyes and curly, shoulder-length hair. He is the youngest tennis player with the highest number of consecutive victuries in the history of tennis. He trains approximately ten hours a day and his trainer is his uncle Toni. He never travels without him.
Nadal is very modest and nice. He is respectul toward his opponents and fans. He lives in Manacor when he isn't competing with his family. The most important things to him are happiness, healthy, family and friends. When he isn't competing he likes play football, going fishing and eating crips.

There is a girl who is everyday picking on me. T: Ok, tell me what she says to you. S: She always says to me that I'm ugly and fat and she tries to leave me out from my friends. T: Oh, this is terrible! Don't worry Laura. You must tell to your parents and then write down everything she says to you. Bring it to me as soon as possible and we will talk with the director. S: oh, thanks very much Noelia. See you tomorrow.

S: Hi miss Noelia, I have just written down the letter. T: Oh, come on. We must talk with the director. (The director reads the letter) D: Well, I must talk with the girl because you can't concentrate in your exams. T: Thanks very much. I will take care her. D: And Laura, don't forget to be careful. S: Of course. Thanks, bye. T: Thanks, bye.

ReplyDeleteShe started to became famous with a rock ban called 'Breakfast Band' and also with another band called 'Emmy'. Then Madonna signed an agreement with Sire Records and made her first album called 'Madonna'. Her nine best themes has been for example: Like a virgin or Vogue.
Nowadays, she's famous around the world and she has sung with a lot of famous singers.
She's considered the pop's queen.

DeleteSome people want to be like skinny models because the look perfect and happy, but I disagree. In my view, they are unnatural because they are sick. They don't eat!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes they look beautiful but most of them are suffering due to they can't eat everything they want and they are anorexic. As I see it, they are showing an irreal image and people don't realize that it's a damage for society, especially for teenagers.
To sum up, if teenagers don't realize, society will be in serious problems but I don't think that it will happen as people are to gullible. All in all, I think they are really unhappy.

DeleteOne of my favourite films is 'In Time'. Andrew Niccol is its director. The main actors are Olivia Wilde and Justin Timberlake. I love the last one, he's so good-looking and his songs are incredible!!
ReplyDeleteThis science fiction film, was recorded in USA. It's about a world where, thanks to scientific research, no one is old. To control the society, people can stay alive as long as they can pay with currency, which is the time.
The protagonist is a middle class man who accidentally give his much time and travels to the rich city, where there he meets a rich woman. Both fall in love and go on a journey to steal all the time there is in the banks and give them to middle class people.
There are several reasons why I love this film. Firstly, it arouses curiosity about the future societies and secondly because they also show humor. I really recommend this film to anyone.

ReplyDeleteThe best film I have never seen is Amelie. It's a French film directed by Jean Pierre Helmet. The actress who plays the lead in is Audrey Toutou. It's incredible how she acts and she's the perfect one for that character. The film has become famous due to his originality.
This film isn't a typical film with a typical plot. The story is about a girl who pays attention to insignificant things, a very special person, who lives her life like a fantasy and is very naive.
The plot becomes interesting when she starts to observe a boy who she fancies, but he don't know anything because she is very shy. By means of little games, she will be able to approach him.
I love this film because the characters are very special and original. Moreover, its scene with bright colours is precious, really nice. So, I would recommend this film to anyone.

One of my favourite programe is "El Hormiguero" in Antena 3 Most of my friends like this programme because is very funny and they watch this programme every night
This programe started in 2008 in Cuatro. It´s presented is Pablo Motos. At first "El hormiguero" it did have any audence However, channel Cuatro has a lot of many and very famous people visit this programme, for example: Justin bieber,Shakira,LMFO... so El hormiguero is very famous among young people. Later Antena 3 bought "El hormiguero" so the audence increasing and they can buy good stages. Finally I recommend or everybody should this programme

ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite films is gladiator.Ridley Scot,who directed the film,is a genius.The main actors,Russell Crowe and Joaquín Phoenix,Cómodo in the film,are great,but I think that the film has become a classic due to the rol of Russel Crowe,''Máximo Décimo Meridio'' in the film.
The film is set in the Roman empire.Máximo's family was killed by the Cómodo Army.Máximo was the general of the Roman legion's and friend of Marcus Aurelius,father of Cómodo.Máximo is betrayed by Cómodo,who killed his father.Máximo is enslave and he became a Gladiator.Máximo challenged Cómodo in the coliseum and later in fight in the Coliseum with Cómodo and he killed him,but Máximo die due to the battle.Máximo met her family in the sky.
I love this film for two reasons.Firstly all the actors are absolutelly fabulous.Secondly,the plot is very nice and emphasizes courage an honor.

An unusual film:
DeleteOne of my favourite films is EdwardScissorhands. This film was made by Tim Burtonn, who directed films like The Corpse Bride or Nightmare Before Chritmas. The main actors are Wynona Ryder and Johnny Deep. I think that this film is a classic because is very beautiful, the actors are fantastic and many people known.
The story begins with a conversation with an old Kum Baggs and her granddaughter. The grandmother was telling how to meet her Edward, a boy who had scissors hands, and his story begins more or less in the 70's, when her mother was selling cosmetics and make-up, she found Edward's house and she decided to introduce meet him to her family and to the village, where all people discriminated him.
When the people discovered the Edward's art talent, all the neighbours take advantage of him. So one day, the people begun to reject him and called him "monster", when the monsters were they. Finally, Edward wasn't happy there and decided to return to his house, where he killed accidently a boy and Kim told the neighbours that Edward died, too, which was a lie to let him in peace.
There are three reasons why I love this film. Firstly, all the actors are absolutely fabolous. Secondly, the film is very original, creative and special, and thirdly, the plot is gorgeous and funny. Therefore, I would recommend this film to anyone.

When he was little, he liked imitate his favourites artists.At the age of 14 years old he presented the musical programmes "Ponte las pilas".
In 1994," El canto del loco" was created the music band.
"El canto del loco" composed five albums and they sold more than a million copies bur in 2009 the musical group decided to separate.
In 2010, Dani Martín published his first CD "16 añitos" and two of his songs are dedicated to his sister,who died in 2009 for a stroke.

WRITING A DESCRIPTION OF A PERSON
ReplyDeleteThe best tennis player in the world is Rafael Nadal, who was born in Majorca, Spain in 1986. He began playing tennis at the age of 15. He is right-handed but he plays tennis with his left-hand. He usually wear to play a headband, t-shirts and knee-length shorts.
He is 1,85 metres tall and he has got brown eyes and curly, shoulder-length hair. He is the youngest tennis player with the highest number of consecutive victuries in the history of tennis. He trains approximately ten hours a day and his trainer is his uncle Toni. He never travels without him.
Nadal is very modest and nice. He is respectul toward his opponents and fans. He lives in Manacor when he isn't competing with his family. The most important things to him are happiness, healthy, family and friends. When he isn't competing he likes play football, going fishing and eating crips.

He trains approximately ten hours a day with his uncle Toni, his trainer. Actually, Nadal is a youngest tennis player with the highest number of consecutive wins in the history of tennis. But away from the track, Nadal is a normal, relaxed 26 year-old who likes to wear jeans and t-shirt and chill out with friends.

S: I'm not sure. I'm confused. There is a girl who is everyday picking on me.
T: Ok, tell me what she says to you.
S: She always says to me that I'm ugly and fat and she tries to leave me out from my friends.
T: Oh, this is terrible! Don't worry Laura. You must tell to your parents and then write down everything she says to you. Bring it to me as soon as possible and we will talk with the director.
S: oh, thanks very much Noelia. See you tomorrow.
